GROWN: The Black Girls' Guide to Growing-Up and Showing-Out

As a young Black girl, there is no limit to what you can achieve. You've just got to know how to shoot your shot. And that's where GROWN comes in.

From how to care for your hair and lay the perfect edges, to finding your squad and freeing yourself from toxic relationships, to dealing with microaggressions, to making money moves and securing your dream job, GROWN is full of stories, advice and activities that will give you the skills to show up and show out, while making sure you always look on point.

This is the debut book from Melissa Cummings-Quarry and Natalie A. Carter, best friends and co-founders of the coveted Black Girls' Book Club, and features contributions from inspirational voices.

THE AUTHORS

Best friends Melissa Cummings-Quarry and Natalie A. Carter met at secondary school in North-East London and bonded over their shared love of books (Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God and Alice Walker’s The Color Purple remain firm favourites).

Years later, Melissa, now a business development manager, and Natalie, a real estate lawyer, decided to channel that passion for reading and form the Black Girls’ Book Club, a literature and social events platform that celebrates literature by Black female writers.
